The Model 1

Aesthetically stunning, ergonomic, and compact, the Rick Turner Model 1 started it all for Rick Turner Guitars! We are extremely impressed with the level of craftsmanship and versatility that Rick Turner has achieved with this model. The tonewoods used are gorgeous and the compact body size with its versatile design create a very inviting playing experience before you even plug the instrument into the amplifier. Speaking of which, strumming this Model 1, before plugging in, yields a surprisingly resonant and lively experience. Prepare to be astonished at the range of sonic possibilities of this instrument when you do plug it in! The control layout is unique but quickly understandable within a few minutes of reviewing what each knob does and tweaking each to experience the wide range of tones. Very intuitive from Strat to Les Paul to Acoustic tones!

The model 1 featherweight

Sonically, the Featheweights have a bit more of an “acoustic” nature to them than most solid body guitars, though you’ll have no problem rocking out with the best of them. The Model 1 Featherweight shares the same hardware, pickups, and electronics as the Classic, the difference being in the wood and construction of the body. JUST 5.5LBS…The Deluxe Featherweight Model 1 is built with a .100″ thick mahogany top and back (other wood options, such as the maple pictured here, are available as upgrades) bent over a very light weight and resonant Western Red Cedar body core. Tonally the tops and backs do make a noticeable difference with harder woods such as rosewood adding more sparkle to the high end and the medium woods like mahogany and maple providing a mellower tone. Piezos also make a great addition to any Featherweight."

These guitars reproduce full-frequency acoustic tone for recording and performing. The thinline body is built like a fine acoustic guitar, but with an added cedar center block to cut feedback. Constructed like true acoustic instruments, with bent sides and a braced tone wood top and back, the Renaissance series truly represents the best way to achieve acoustic tone plugged in. The construction feature that sets their instruments apart is the Western Red Cedar center block that prevents feedback and yet provides an acoustically live foundation for the D-TAR preamp pickup system that features a coaxial piezo pickup element mounted in a curve bottomed slot in the bridge with a bone or carbon fiber saddle transferring the string pressure variations from vibrations into the pickup which transduces those vibrations into an electrical signal. Because the pickup senses 360 degrees around its core, you get both direct string sound as well as the warmth of the wood of the body.
